Effective Strategies for Latinx Faculty Recruitment & Retention

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) will present a free webinar for HACU member institutions, “Effective Strategies for Latinx Faculty Recruitment & Retention.”
The webinar will explore how to reduce bias and remove barriers in recruiting and retaining Latinx faculty. Speakers will introduce model programs and novel approaches that have proven to be successful on their campuses, and they will discuss how COVID-19 introduces new challenges to our recruitment and retention efforts. Participants will come away from this session with actionable ideas for the successful recruitment, selection, retention, and advancement of Latinx faculty.
Speakers include:
Donna Maria Blancero, Ph.D., provost and vice president of academic affairs at Bentley University. Prior to this, she served as the dean of business and the dean of the Graduate School at Bentley. She is a Fellow in the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and is the recipient of several awards for diversity, including the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s Brillante Award for Hispanic Education, the National Black MBA Diversity Educator Award, and the MLK Leadership Award from Bentley University.
Carol Parker, J.D., provost at New Mexico State University. Prior to this, she served as the provost and vice president for academic affairs at The University of Texas at El Paso, and senior vice provost for academic affairs at The University of New Mexico, where she also served as associate dean for finance and administration, and as a tenured professor of law.
